Top ten ways to succeed as a temporary
employee in the fast-paced staffing industry.
The Search Is On
In the interview process with our Staffing Coordinator, please
be sure to specify what type of job you are looking for. Let us
know the job of your dreams and we will try to make that a
reality.
Communicate, Communicate,
Communicate
It is important to keep the lines of communication open with
your staffing coordinator. They are your inside track to job
placement, payroll and benefits. The more information you share
with them, the better they can assist you with all of your
needs.
Dress for Success
We work with many companies, all of which have different
"cultures" and environments. In order to "fit in," you will need
to dress appropriately for their environment. If in doubt as to
what you should wear, always dress up rather than down. Never
neglect proper hygiene.
"Can Do" Attitude
Not only have a "can-do" attitude, but a "will-do" attitude
while on an assignment! It is important that you give 100%
during your workday. Be flexible to work past 5pm, if necessary,
in order to assist the client in completing the work.
Hands Off!
There are certain things that are off limits to temporary
employees. One should never use the company equipment for
personal use. This includes the fax machine, photocopier, email
or Internet, or telephone for making personal calls.
"The Early Bird Gets the Worm"
First impressions can make or break you. Always be punctual, if
not early, for your assignment. Allow yourself extra time to
find a new work site or drive by the day before to ensure you
are there on time.
Scout It Out
If you have finished the assigned work that was given to you,
ask for something else to do. You may be able to learn new
skills, meet new people or offer some valuable input. Consider
your spare time as an opportunity to learn! Always volunteer for
a new challenge.
Mums the Word
Often times, temporaries are exposed to confidential information
on the job. It is very important not to discuss or share this
with others. It is an ethical responsibility you have to the
client and to RSG.
Give It a Shot
Be open-minded and flexible about possible job assignments. Our
Staffing Coordinators build rapport with our employees and
sometimes feel they have a company and skill match that would be
a great fit for you. Be open to opportunities that you may not
have thought of yourself. You never know what you could be
missing out on!
Live It Up!
Take advantage of everything that
RSG has to offer you. We have
an excellent benefits package, placements into top companies in
the area, networking opportunities, and computer training
programs.
